Greetings in the new year! Hope all is well in your world, as it is in ours.

We finished off 2008 with some really fun shows, sharing the stage with the Black Crowes and playing parts of the U.S. many of us had never been to before. Thanks to Kevin Barker and Eric Johnson for rounding out the group with fresh dance moves and spot-on regional accents. I wouldn't have wanted to brave the cold weather with anyone else. Be on the lookout for Eric and his Fruit Bats on an upcoming west coast tour, as well as a killer solo outing from Kevin forthcoming this year on Gnomonsong.

Down below you will find a few of the many wonderful photos taken by the lovely Alissa Anderson, our ever-faithful merchandise coordinator and bearer-of-good-vibes, from this past tour. Of particular note would be the family jam portion of the Crowes set, when they threw caution to the wind and invited us up on stage to join them on a couple of traditional numbers. In Minneapolis we were reunited with our good friend Gary Louris, who we hadn't seen since earlier in the year on the tour we shared together. Good times. Dapper as ever, it was great to share the stage with him again, and in the company of the Crowes no less. Thanks for having us along, fellas! It was a blast.

In about a month from now, Feb. 17 to be precise, our new album Tight Knit will be available in stateside stores on our new label, Sub Pop. Shortly thereafter it will make its debut across the pond at our new home abroad, Bella Union. However, the foresighted folk at Sub Pop have enabled you to pre-purchase the album right now, and by doing so, you receive immediate access to a stream of the new record! What a very modern and appealing feature.

I'm also pleased to welcome to the touring line-up of Vetiver two new fresh faces...family really. Sarah Versprille will be accompanying us on keys and vocals and Daniel Hindman will be holding it down on bass. Brent has returned to the cozy confines of Charlotte to code and settle into some knot-tying, and though we'll miss his steady hands and warm ways, we're looking forward to the new hues of this ever-changing palette.

Yes, we're excited to return with all this shiny newness, with some fresh songs and travels, so be on the lookout for tour dates as they are devised. We'll be headed to the UK and Europe for a brief moment at the end of February, including a show with those harmonizing Fleet Foxes at the Roundhouse...quite a treat. An east coast jaunt down to Austin for SXSW will follow in March, as well dates on the west coast in April. Hope to see you along the way!

Oh My God! New Vetiver!!! Right on! You guys are the shit! I couldn't imagine a beach acid trip without the velvety tones of vetiver, oh no. Please come to vancouver, the commodore is really nice, you'd like it ^_^.

I'm so excited you're coming back to Birmingham, UK. If you get time whilst you're here, be sure to check out Moseley Village (my home), just a five minute drive from the Hare & Hounds. This is our city's musical heart and certified hedonists', artists', students' and musicians' backwater. This is where J. R. R. Tolkien lived as a boy (now the 'Shades' guitar shop) and where many a famous band started. You'll find some great pubs and restaurants here (Deolali, next to the Bull's Head, cooks wonderful gourmet Indian food, mmm!). Good luck with your new album and the rest of the tour.

You never cease to amaze me Andy.

This is amazing.

What a wonderful sound. I must give props to Gary Louris and his blog for turning me onto Vetiver. Your music is so bloody gorgeous. I have fallen hard for this band. Love to see you play in Ireland sometime if you are anywhere near this side of the world.

Billy | 01/18/09 @ 11:30 AM

Love the new album! 'Another Reason to Go' and 'Strictly Rule' seem to have a slight Bob Marley influence. The album cover as well as the live photos look lovely. I hope next time you come to Wisconsin I will be able to go. Peace and love! :]

Looking forward to seeing you in London @ either of the dates.
Seeing an interview with you on youtube, thought how similar it all sounded to gigging around in the early '70s, as if some people can have a bit of thing of whether one fits their definition of 'folk', the use of the term. "We're not folk" - no we're not. Musicians back then sounded exactly like that.
You've a good strong original sound and I like all of the group's own compositions. See you in February.

mohdj | 01/18/09 @ 11:02 PM

Im looking forward to hopefully seeing you at SXSW, but is there anyway that the venue your playing at will sell individual tickets instead of buying some 650 dollar pass to the whole fesival?

Cowboycrowe | 01/23/09 @ 10:04 AM

thanks soo much for making the music yall mke

You mentioned your merch coordinator in this post. Where can I find Vetiver t-shirts and merch on the web? If they don't exist yet, can I get in touch with this Alissa Anderson to procure some merch. I'm a big fan and was blown away at the show you guys did with The Crowes in Denver, CO.

Keep on keepin' on and don't do anything that you wouldn't do.

Hello! I am Brazilian, I do not speak English right ...
Very good music from you! Sinesthesic motivation!
Do you have any project to be presented in Brazil? It would be pretty cool, especially if you have a partnership with countryman Rodrigo Amarante!
Greetings! And respond if possible!

What about Boston? I live in NH and I am turning on people to your music here but the closest you are coming is 10 hours away I think. I might have to make the drive but it would be pretty cool if you came closer.

Oh it's been such a long time.....

Just cracked open the new record and can't take "Roling Sea" off repeat, because it's so fantastic.....maybe in a few days, I'll get to hear the other nine?

Your music means so much and has helped me through such tough times and amazing road trips, evenings of staying up all night and just making a sandwich. It's beautiful, you should be proud of it. I'll help you with anything you need, should you find yourselves in Los Angeles....we are brothers, afterall! Thanks, Andy and Co.!!!

Dear Vetiver,
Please come to Portland, Maine. We are in desperate need of you.

mike.g | 02/05/09 @ 11:33 AM

good vibe. I'm considering it for the AdultAlternative channel on Galaxie here in Canada. I'm loving lots of tracks...trying to settle on the one that most "typifies" what you do. I'll find it....

thanks for creating.

Hi Guys,

Can't wait for the new album, keep 'em coming. Will be seeing you at the Roundhouse. Seems a long time since the gig in last year. Bit jealous of all the greedy Americans being able to see you as and when!

See you then,

RB

Vicki Campagna | 04/14/09 @ 10:16 PM

I saw your show at the Eagle Rock center for the Arts.... an it was the best show I've seen in a long time. I love you guys and hope to catch you in NY.

Andy mentioned that someone didn't want to see Benji, I'm just curios who it was. I was afraid to see it too! Does Benji even die? I have no idea. Haven't seen Bambi, for the same reason!

I had a great spot up front, and didn't want the show to end. I guess I'll have to come up North to see you, a great excuse to visit SF.

yiyi | 05/01/09 @ 02:11 AM

GO!GO!

vicki | 05/09/09 @ 01:26 PM

I wonder if there is any way Andy and the gang can transform their album Thing Of The Past into a real live day... so that I can live in it? It makes me happy.

Darko Papp | 05/23/09 @ 08:19 AM
