If you were to spend many days staring out the windows at the wonderful studio called
the Hangar in Sacramento, as we have and as our great producer and engineer Thom
Monahan does, many weeks out of the year, this would be your view. Alissa snapped this perfectly simple shot of the train tracks and a bluebuilding nearby.

Vetiver holed up at the Hangar for a couple of weeks in March to record some songs by other songwriters that we love. We covered a lot of ground, but still have a ways to go to complete an album. There has been talk of releasing an e.p. of some of the tunes later this fall, along with a couple of remixes of songs from our last album, which Thom and I and Otto have been working on, off and on for a while now. Thom and I finished mixing about 5 tracks and these remixes recently, so we're working to put together this aforementioned e.p. now.

We're also headed down to Buenos Aires to play a festival curated by Juana Molina, Nuevos Aires Folk 07 on June 12. We'll be recording a little with Juana and just enjoying the wonderful hospitality and friendly atmosphere of our kind friends in Buenos Aires. We're all very much looking forward to the journey.

Also, for our friends and fans in the Bay Area, we have a couple of shows coming up in California at the start of July, including a show in San Francisco at the Independent, with our friends the Papercuts and the Dry Spells, on July 3. Don't miss it, as we've no certain plans to play again in the area any time soon.

Hey, just wanted to let you know that I'm glad "Idle Ties" was licensed for use in Canadian Blood Services' new ad for blood donation. I never would have known about Vetiver if I hadn't done a search on the snippet of lyrics that made it into the ad. Once I tracked you guys down, I bought the new CD on iTunes. (It's quite a good ad, BTW, if you haven't seen it.)

Also, do you think you might post lyrics on your website at some point? It's tough finding them on standard lyrics sites.

Thanks!

Been trying to track down Andy to thank him for his kind words about - and his diligence in tracking down - my old album for Virgin. Still playing and recording from time to time.
Best wishes

At first I tought To find me Gone was a bit slow because the first songs I had heard before buying the album were you may be blue and idle ties, but after a few listend the album is amazing. Anyways I was wondering why you (vetiver) and also Banhart never play shows in Canada. I live in New Brunswick so even if you are playing somewhere in Canada there's one hell of a big chance it won't be here but i'd love to see you guys live. Also I thought Idle Ties went very well with the Canadian Blood Donors clinic commercial.

If this is the kind of music Frisco is producing i'm moving!

abuelitofifi | 08/04/07 @ 09:26 PM

hey folks, come to SEATTLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ryan | 08/07/07 @ 08:29 PM

So, this is pretty random. But I think i'm spot on on this one. Alissa Anderson's mom used to be my computer teacher and used to plug this band all the time in class. Earlier today i was on insound and was looking through their new posters and saw one for this band and got on the website. So basically i'm just saying it was pretty random to find that Mrs. Anderson's daughter's band was as good as she made them out to be. Or her daughter plays cello in some other band called Vetiver and i'm wasting your time... i might be wasting your time anyhow.

Come back to Boston.

-Ryan.
