well so much for steady blogging!
9 shows left of our European tour, bellies full of squid ink and cerveza, we're about to roll on through Switzerland and Italy, as we make our way to Berlin for the first every SOLID Festival! very excited are we.

a big shout out of love and affection to everyone who has come out to see
us play on this tour. so many smiling faces, special moments....from the humid walls of a Bordeaux wine cellar (yay El Inca!), to the drunken streets of Glasgow on a Saturday night...from the three dimensional poster awaiting us in Paris (thanks Jo!) to a lovely foggy night's view of Porto....a crowded whooping scene at the Spitz (thanks for coming, Bert and Loren!) and truly magical sets at Whelan's in Dublin and Moby Dick in Madrid, it's all been a gas. not a stinker in the bunch. Kelly has been driving like the madman he is....6 hour journeys somehow only seem to take 4 and seemingly untraverseable streets open up for us. how DOES he do it? yet further proof that if it ain't Dutch, it ain't much.

i know i'm forgetting so many things, but i gotta write something to clear the cobwebs off this blog. here's a few photos to complete the picture....and again, really...we've been having such a great time. thanks everyone!

This song is Steely Dan's "Dirty Work" from the "Can't Buy A Thrill" album...

I would have loved to have heard the band do that at the Manchester gig..

Cheers!

Concococon | 09/23/06 @ 06:56 AM

I had a stupidly great time in Whelans and became an instant convert! I see quite a few shows and was definitely up 'there'. Play again soon now, y'hear? Or I'll come at you like a spider monkey.

Éli | 09/29/06 @ 03:58 AM

Hey there. I saw you guys in Aberdeen and you f*cking rocked my socks. I'm soon to fly back to my native Montreal before heading South to the States, then to Peru where I'll stay for a year. You guys reminded me of everything I love about the Americas and made leaving the land of the Scots a bit easier for me. AND I got the very last copy of your album in One Up which made me smile a lot (if a bit smugly):).

Again, you ROCK.

Harvie St. Blues | 10/05/06 @ 05:34 PM

Hey, man. This is just an interesting tidbit that you probably are not aware of. Anyways, Chris Robinson of the Crowes has plugged your album several times, once dring an acoustic show with his brother in Colorado.

Also, they have been using the latest album as pre-show music at 2 of the shows I've recntly attended.....Charlottseville Pavilion and the 9:30 Club.

You probably don't like or appreciate TBC, but I'd thought you might find it interesting. Then again the Crowes like Devendra and have covered one of his songs, so maybe you are friends with them?

I've got to say I love your music, and while i was sipping beers and get ready for the show in Charlottesville a few weeks ago, your album just sounded great. I wandered around, looked out towards the mountains. It was the best preshow experience of my life.

1 or 2 new clubs are getting ready to open in richmond, so stop on by sometime, won't you?

Peace!

lucy | 10/08/06 @ 10:32 AM

hah i think i may have had something to do with those drunken streets of glasgow, taking you to noodle bars and generally being a drunken mess. it was lovely to meet you all, you were all very charming x x x

the cricket | 10/10/06 @ 01:37 PM

I escaped the Utah mountains to see the band 2 years ago. The new album is fantastic.

asa | 10/11/06 @ 06:08 AM

Hi guys, How did you come up with your group name?

asa

HL | 10/12/06 @ 01:20 PM

I saw you at Spitz in London. Amazing gig. Loving the album. Please tell me the name of the cover with the cowbell - not "Dirty Work", the other one - it was a tune!

Kaleem | 10/14/06 @ 09:24 PM

When are you guys coming to Australia.

Paco | 10/26/06 @ 05:51 PM

Yeah people, right now you guys are on the 2nd channel of Spanish TV, you rock men!

Gabriel | 10/30/06 @ 03:48 PM

Hey guys!
I'm brazilian and i was at devendra's concert in Rio, wich you (andy) was present. Loved it! I didn't know who you were at the moment but, thanks to internet, now i know! your songs as well!
I know this may be kinda difficult, but try to get vetiver down here!!!! it would be amazing!

all the best!

Carla | 10/30/06 @ 08:09 PM

Hi,

I'm another Brazilian that saw Andy at Devedra's gig in Rio. Wonderful. I was right there, front row in standing in front of you.

I send to youtube Andy singing "You May Be Blue" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fB-VTrbsb5o). It was one of the finest moments in that great great show.

As well as the guy who commented before me, I'd love to see Vetiver around here too!

xox,
Carla

Juliana | 11/02/06 @ 06:32 PM

Loved to hear "You may be blue" in Brazil! :)

Galen | 11/09/06 @ 04:07 PM

Wow! The site looks great! I had i thought the other day, it might be impossible? but how cool would it be if there where Vetiver shirts that, where instead of a screen print on the front, just have black shirts with the vines screen in black or dark gray ink all over the shirt like a pattern on the material, i guess the shirt would have to be screened before being constructed? or just the entire front screened would be cool to. then it could be ran in different colors like the hair font one. I am about to leave providence, going to CA this week to see Tahiti's little one and decide if i want to come back to the west. Hope to see you!

Ines | 11/12/06 @ 11:09 AM

Hi Andy,
Im Ines from Argentina, I saw you playing with Devendra Banhart in Buenos Aires.
I must admit the show was a bit bizarre, the nightclub was awful and I think many people didnt know about your music... so it was kind of strange (fortunately I was seated within the stage or close so I could listen to the music).
I didnt know you, I had listened a few records of Devendra, but after the improvised little show you gave later that night, I must admit I was smitten by your sound.
It is rare to see in Argentina new artists, we are not an exciting destination I guess (thanks to our economy).
So I thought it was really precious to hear you play live... I also liked your understated but powerful presence on stage... somehow, however histrionic and playful Devendra is, I couldnt help but watch how in spite of that, of how different you two guys seem to be, there was a beautiful dialog happening between you. He seemed like the rioter and you like the pacient friend, it´s hard to explain in English!
Anyway, I thought the band was amazing, each one individually and together... lovely.
So... thank you, I hope I can get to see Vetiver sometime!

bryan | 11/13/06 @ 08:59 PM

I'm sorry to have missed you guys this past saturday in Seattle. I stumbled across your website via a Seattle Weekly blog

Bengt Hesdorf | 11/25/06 @ 10:09 AM

HI(GH)
I've reacently seen a program about the "new" San Fransisco rockscen in swedish T.V. and I realy love that some of the psycadelic feeling is back.
I dont think thath the people here in scandinava has discoverd thath yet, so it would be nice if we can make you (f.e: Vetiver, Citay, Brightblack Morning Light, Comets on Fire and/or Howling Rain) to give some gigs here when you're in Europe.
You can try to make some kind of deal witht Roskilde Festival (a big nice music festival in Denmark (about 100 000 visitors))
http://www.roskilde-festival.dk
I think it will be a good idea to spred you're music in Europe.
Hope to hear more of you music.
LOVE, PEACE and UNDERSTANDING:
BENGT H.

Adrian | 11/28/06 @ 01:00 AM

Nice to see that "To Find Me Gone" made the list of top albums of 2006 in Uncut magazine. It came in at no.21 (although for me it's definitely THE best album of 2006!!)

Cheers!

rich | 11/30/06 @ 11:22 PM

Hi, just listened to the stream of Find Me Gone, very generous !!!! of you to make it available free.

Man am I sorry I couldn't get to Devendra's gig in Manchester, UK, early enough to see you play.

Loved the album, suffice to say you have a new fan and have just sold a copy of each album.

Adrian | 12/04/06 @ 02:32 AM

And still on the subject of end-of-year lists, "To Find Me Gone" is No.6 in the "Best Albums of 2006" in Mojo magazine...

Cheers!
